Meet Our Children and Families Worker
Hello! I’m Melanie and I am the new Children and Families Worker at Eastwood Baptist Church. I’m a Devonian girl through and through (for those of you that don’t understand, it means I come from beautiful Devon!) and am a wife and mother also.
Previously I have trained to be a Nursery nurse and then a Nurse specialising in Learning Disabilities. I spent 6 years working in community homes with adults and teenagers who have Learning Disabilities and Challenging Behaviour. I absolutely loved this job! After our third child though I felt it was time for a change and took some time out to be ‘an at home mum’. Since then I felt God was telling me to study to be a Children and Families Worker and so am doing this while working for the church and looking after my own family. Some days it does feel like I am juggling, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Eastwood feels like a fantastic place to be and I’m looking forward to working in the community. My vision is to see EBC working with Families in the town and filling the gaps that these families feel there are. The reason I want to work with these children and families is because I love God and because of this I want to love the community in which I am in and show them the love of God too. If anyone has any ideas or visions for families and children – groups to be run, fun things to be done, then please do
and maybe we can dream those dreams together and try to make a difference.
